Suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) blasted a telecommunications relay tower of Globe Telecom in Capiz province Friday night.

An estimated 10 NPA rebels destroyed the relay tower of Globe in Barangay Sto. Rosario in Jamindan town.

The powerful blast destroyed a major portion of the telecommunications facility and damage was reportedly estimated at P13 million. A fire which erupted after the blast was quickly put out.

The suspected rebels were believed to be members of the Communist Party of the Philippines – NPA Central Front Committee which reportedly operate in the towns of Jamindan and Tapaz.
