KARIMNAGAR: Close on the heels of losing a top Maoist leader in Andhra-Orissa border, the CPI (Maoist) party suffered yet another loss when a key action team member was killed in an encounter at Mahamuttaram mandal in Karimnagar district on Wednesday morning.
The Maoist, G Sampath of Mahadevpur area, was killed by the special party police team near Peddavagu between Nimmagudem and Pegadapalli villages. The police retaliated when Sampath opened fire on them, resulting in his death.
Two other Maoists however escaped in the cover of darkness, district SP Y Gangadhar told ‘TOI’ over phone.
