BERHAMPORE (WB): Four villagers, including a minor, sustained bullet wounds when suspected Maoists shot at them at Tewt village in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, police said on Sunday.
Superintendent of Police Basab Dasgupta said that a group of five armed Maoist cadre, including a woman, shot at the members of a village defence party on patrol late on Saturday night.
Hearing the sounds of gunshot, a boy came out of the house and was hit by a bullet. Other villagers began chasing the Maoists and caught hold of a rebel identified as Bapan alias Swapan.
According to villagers, a local broke his right arm when the Maoists hit him with the butt of a gun. The injured have been admitted to Amtala Rural Hospital.
