2 die, 3 hurt in cop-Maoist encounter

GIRIDIH (Jharkhand), Feb. 8: A CRPF man and a suspected Maoist were killed today and three others injured in a fierce encounter that is continuing in Jaradih forest in Giridih district. It started when a group of CPI (Maoist) cadres fired at a police team, fatally injuring a CRPF man, superintendent of police Mr Muralilal Meena, who led the raid, said.
The injured, Bagodar police station in-charge Mr Pramod Pandey, Jharkhand police sub-inspector Mr JP Mahto and a CRPF man, were admitted to Bokaro General Hospital, Mr Meena said. Two CPI(Maoist) cadre, who were injured in the encounter, were arrested and a large quantity of explosives was seized, deputy inspector general of police Mr RK Mullick said. n PTI
