Maoist posters surface in Nandigram

Nandigram (PTI): Two weeks after the CPI-M cadres "recaptured" Nandigram, Maoist posters threatening their leaders with "dire consequences" were found here creating panic in the area.

Three posters written by the Maoists were found at Hazrakata village, Superintendent of police, East Midnapore, S S Panda said on Monday.

The posters written in Hindi said, "Blood for blood. Beware CPI-M", Panda said.

However, Panda described the discovery of the posters as a "stray incident" and said that no one was arrested in this connection.

Asked how Maoist posters came up when the CPI-M cadres had "recaptured" Nandigram, he said that the police was looking into this.

The state administration had earlier alleged that the Maoists were present along with Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh Committee (BUPC) in Nandigram and unleashed violence against the CPI-M.

Some ammunition, explosives and Maoist literatures were seized by the CRPF during a raid at Sonachurra in Nandigram earlier.

Meanwhile, a CBI team today arrived in Kolkata on way to Nandigram to undertake further investigation into the March 14 police firing.

The team would leave for Nandigram either on Monday or on Tuesday, CBI sources said.

Terming the March 14 police firing as "wholly unconstitutional", the Calcutta High Court on November 16 had directed that the CBI inquiry into it would continue and asked the agency to submit a report within a month.
