Army making false propaganda: ULFA

Guwahati, Oct. 2 (PTI): The outlawed ULFA today accused the army of launching a false propaganda against it.

In an editorial in its mouthpiece "Swadhinata" (Freedom), the ULFA accused the army of launching a false propaganda "only to confuse the people".

Denying army's claim that the group has links with fundamentalists, it said it was mainly working for the "cause of indigenous people of the state".

About the recent claim by GOC of 4 Corps, B S Jaiswal, that the group had links with HuJI, the editorial said "it was baseless and aimed at hoodwinking the people".

The ULFA also came down heavily on Jaiswal for his call to parents to bring back their children who joined the group or "be prepared to receive their mortal remains".

"This only shows the lack of concern of the army towards the sentiments of local people," it said, referring to Jaiswal's comment at a recent press conference.

The ULFA also alleged that the army was carrying out atrocities on the flood-affected victims in the state.
